V pondělí 14. října 2024 se všichni studenti druhého ročníku (sexty, druháci a 4S) jeli podívat do kina Dlabačov na divadelní představení The Great Gatsby v podání dramatické skupiny Europe.
Jedná se o divadelní skupinu ze zahraničí složenou z umělců z Británie, Holandska, nebo dokonce i zámořské Ameriky, která předvádí svá díla v různých státech Evropy. Momentálně je na turné právě s představením The Great Gatsby
Samotná hra byla hezky zpracována. Hlavní postava Nicka postupně vypráví příběh z 20. let minulého století odehrávající se v Americe. Vyprávění je doprovázeno monology i dialogy ostatních postav a proloženo hudebními vstupy. Herci často střídali ztvárněné postavy a děj se rychle měnil. Na člověka, který knížku Velký Gatsby nikdy nečetl, a neznal tedy děj ani hlavní postavy, mohla návaznost děje působit zmatečně. Tento nedostatek se ovšem dal rychle dohnat přečtením několika odstavců na Wikipedii. Jazyk odpovídá románu, který byl poprvé vydaný roku 1925, a i pokročilý angličtinář najde slovíčka, kterým nerozumí, ale z kontextu se dá vše pochopit a nenarušuje to návaznost děje.
Chtěla bych poděkovat našim učitelům za tuto příležitost a za snahu nás vzdělávat i za zdmi školy.
The Great Gatsby theater
On Monday the 14th of October, the students from sexta, second years and 4S visited a theater performance The Great Gatsby in Kino Dlabačov.
It was performed by an American drama group called Europe, a dramatic foreign group, which has actors from Britain, Holland or even America and performs in many states of Europe. Right now, they are on a tour with a play named The Great Gatsby.
The play was very nice. The main character Nick tells a story from the 20s of the last century taking place in America, mostly New York. The storytelling is accompanied by monologues and dialogues of other characters and interspersed with small musical performances. Actors often change roles that they are playing. For someone who has never read the book The Great Gatsby by F.S. Fitzgerald, the storyline may seem a little confusing, but this deficiency can be quickly made up by reading a few paragraphs on the leaflet offered or online. The language corresponds with the original novel published in 1925 and even an advanced English speaker can find a few words he will not understand, but everything easily clears up from the context and it does not interrupt the storyline.
I would like to thank our teachers for such an opportunity to practice our language in the real circumstances and the effort they put into teaching us even outside of our school.
